OBXtek launched the Veteran Employee Resource Group in an ongoing effort to support veterans. The company also launched the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Program. The mission of the company’s DEI Program is to continue to maintain an environment that recognizes and values differences.

OBXtek was award a position on the GSA OASIS Unrestricted Pool 1. We were also added to the list of approved vendors on the GSA OASIS Small Business multiple award, Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts for Pools 4, 5A, 5B, and 6.

OBXtek received two awards: American Veterans named OBXtek the Veteran Friendly Employer of the Year in the Midsized Company (500-750 employees) Champion category. The Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce named OBXtek the Veteran Owned Business of the Year in the Maturing Business category at the Distinguished Service Awards.
OBXtek was recognized as a Virginia Values Veterans (V3) certified company by the Virginia Department of Veterans Services. The Washington Business Journal ranked OBXtek has the 10th largest cybersecurity company and the 6th largest veteran-owned company in the Greater D.C. area.
OBXtek relocated its corporate headquarters to McLean, VA to support the rapid growth of the business.
In 2018, the Washington Business Journal ranked OBXtek as the 10th largest cybersecurity company in the Greater D.C. area. OBXtek was successfully appraised at level 3 of the CMMI Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI)® for both Development and Services. To improve the company’s environment impact, OBXtek applied for and received the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System certification.
The centers of excellence were established to provide leadership, encourage knowledge sharing across projects, and develop standardized quality systems. OBXtek was awarded the GSA Health IT SIN under the GSA IT Schedule 70 contract vehicle.
OBXtek received several awards: the Washington Business Journal ranked OBXtek the 5th largest veteran-owned business. Deltek awarded OBXtek the 2017 Project Excellence Partner Award, which recognizes and celebrates outstanding Deltek customer and partner achievements in improving business processes and performance, driving innovation, increasing profitability and winning new business with Deltek solutions. OBXtek won the 2017 Moxie Award for boldness and innovation in business in the category of government contractor.
In 2016, OBXtek won a position on the five-year $461 million Army Program Management Support Services (PMSS-3) IDIQ. Within the first quarter of 2016, OBXtek had exceeded 500 employees. The company obtained several quality certifications: ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 Service Management System; ISO/IEC 27001:2013 Information Security Management System; and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management.
The first semi-annual Project Manager (PM) Summit was held at headquarters in 2015. The PM Summit was created to provide PMs and the leadership team the opportunity to meet and collaborate on their projects. It also offered an opportunity to provide professional development seminars for our employees. OBXtek was listed on the Washington Technology Fast 50 for the third year in a row. The company obtained and was appraised at level 3 of the CMMI Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI)® for Development.
In 2014, OBXtek conducted a rebranding initiative, asking employees to create a new tagline for OBXtek. The selected tagline “Our People...Our Reputation” recognizes the essential value the company brings to its customers and helps to recognize the importance of employees to the continued success of the company. For the second year in a row, Washington Technology selected OBXtek as the Fastest Growing Small-Business Contractor on their Fast 50 list. By the end of 2014, OBXtek had over 400 employees.
2013 was a successful year for OBXtek. The company was awarded the Professional Management and Administrative Support Services (PMASS) contract by the Department of State. The Washington Business Journal ranked OBXtek as the #1 fastest growing company in the Washington, D.C. area. By the end of 2013, OBXtek had over 200 employees.
In 2012, OBXtek's rapid growth required more office space, resulting in a move to a different floor. OBXtek is still headquartered in Tysons Corner, VA.
In 2011, OBXtek was awarded its first contract vehicle, the Federal Aviation Administration's Electronic FAA Accelerated and Simplified Tasks (eFAST). The company became a prime contractor for the VETS Governmentwide Acquisition Contract (GWAC).
In April 2010, OBXtek grew from four employees to 19 employees and received its first quality certification, the ISO 9001:2008, a registered Quality Management System. By the end of the year, OBXtek had 32 employees.
On April 15, 2009, OBXtek was incorporated as a service disabled veteran owned small business (SDVOSB). The OBX in OBXtek represents the Outer Banks, NC and the TEK stands for "technology enhancing knowledge." Our very first contract was washing C5A simulators for the U.S. Air Force. At the end of our first year, OBXtek had a total of four employees.
