Bicycle Building for a Cause: OBXtek’s 2025 Leadership Summit Highlights
March 19th and 20th OBXtek Headquarters hosted the 2025 Leadership Summit in McLean, VA. The Summit activities began with a message from Senior Leadership and our focus on the organization’s success in 2025. There were team building activities including building bicycles blindfolded which demonstrated that, if you had someone to help guide you, anything can be accomplished as demonstrated by picture below. The bicycles were delivered to the Boys and Girls club of the Greater Washington area and Virginia. They were thoroughly tested before delivery by the designated testers. After building the bicycles, a session on lessons learned was conducted to understand applying the methodology for process improvement.
Dale Spencer kicked off the second day by introducing the process that the leadership team took to develop the 2025 Strategic Plan and the meaning for the organization. Clayton Crosby then led the participants through several exercises on what their role would be in helping the organization meet the goals of the Strategic Plan. These were two very busy days, but it was a good combination of learning more about the organization and where we are trying to get to in 2025 and beyond.
During the 2025 Leadership Summit hosted at OBXtek Headquarters in McLean, VA, one of the most impactful activities brought together team members for an extraordinary challenge: building bicycles while blindfolded. This exercise, designed not only to strengthen teamwork but also to demonstrate trust and communication, resulted in a collection of brand-new bicycles assembled through collaboration and guidance.
The true highlight came when these bicycles, after being thoroughly evaluated by designated volunteers, were donated to the Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Washington area and Virginia. Participants took pride in knowing their hard work would directly benefit children in the community, turning a team-building exercise into an act of generosity.
While the summit included sessions on organizational strategy and future goals, it was the shared experience of assembling and donating bicycles that forged strong bonds and left a lasting mark. The event served as a memorable reminder that working together can create tangible, positive changes beyond the workplace.
